COMMISSION ON AGING

PURPOSE: To provide advocacy and ombudsman service to aging citizens; to study and evaluate needs of senior citizens; to encourage reduction of duplication in services and filling of service gaps; and to coordinate services provided by federal, state, and local agencies. Ordinance specifically designates creation of a Long Term Care Committee. (6-0-76) (98-O-77) (136-O-89).

 

MEMBERS: 15
COMPOSITION: At least 1/3 of the Commission shall be age 60 or over. Must be residents of Evanston; cannot be paid staff member of any Evanston agency serving the elderly; must be from various socio-economic groups.
APPOINTMENTS: The Human Services Committee of the City Council shall submit to the Mayor at least 60 days prior to expiration of terms the names of one or more qualified persons for each expected vacancy.
TERM: 3 years
MEETING DATE: 1st Saturday of each month, 9:30 a.m.
PLACE: Civic Center, Room 2402
