Green Living Festival
The second annual Evanston Green Living Festival will be held on Saturday, October 4 at the Ecology Center. Approximately 1,300 people attended. Thank you to all the sponsors, vendors and volunteers who made it a terrific success!
The 2008 Duck Race and Pluck contest winners were:
Duck Race: Suzanne Whiting, Judy Aiello, Elliot Perkins, Katie Biggs, Aiden Milne, Sam Dehyle, Alexa Michel, Julia White and Marge Lucansky.
Duck Pluck: Jake Druckman, Helen Bjornson, Chris Livatina, Isaac Perkins, Sally Barnum, Harrison Covarrubias, Margrethe Bohr, Stella Ward, Brody Jeffers and PQ & Sydney.
Master Plan
This project includes development of a facility management and long range master plan for the Ladd Arboretum by professional design consultants.
The Ecology Center strives to foster a greater appreciation, awareness and knowledge of the natural environment and our interdependence with it through educational programs and services. Classes are offered year-'round for children, adults, families, schools, and organized groups such as scouts.
Ecology Center staff oversee
- several very popular summer camp programs
- four community gardens
- canoeing on the North Shore Channel
- programming at Lighthouse Park
- access to fishing (sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources)
- natural history programs.
