Condominium Disclosure Review and Conversion Process

Condominium Conversion is a process that enables duplex or apartment complexes to convert to ownership properties. Condominium disclosure review is a method of notice and inspection of properties involved in rehabilitation work.

Condominium Review

The Planning Division administers the Residential Condominium Regulations, which were designed to protect the purchasers of condominium units and the residents of tenants in rental buildings undergoing conversion, and to encourage the maintenance and improvement of the quality of housing. The condominium regulations apply to multiple-family dwellings (3 or more dwelling units) to be developed as new or conversion condominiums, except for group, row or townhouses not electing to convert to condominiums.

In addition to going through the regular Building Office process for new construction or improvements, condominium developers must submit documents for review prior to creating a condominium. These include a disclosure statement and declaration, an engineer’s or architect’s report on the building condition and an affidavit concerning notice to tenants of intent to convert.
