Parking instructions to assist snow removal operations
On Wed., Dec. 24, there are currently no parking restrictions in effect for snow removal. However, we are asking that as a courtesy, vehicles avoid parking on the even numbered side of the street today from 9am to 2pm and on the odd numbered side of the street from 2pm to 7pm to allow plows to clear the residential streets.

Holiday Refuse Collection Update

U.S. Census 2010 is Hiring in Evanston
The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring thousands of people in the greater Chicago area, with temporary positions starting as early as January 2009. Field positions start at $17.00 per hour and office positions at $13.00. Applicants for these positions must pass an employment test. Full Story

Salt Conservation Measures
As a result of the salt shortage and skyrocketing salt prices, many municipalities, counties and state agencies, including IDOT, are implementing a number of salt conservation measures this winter. While the City of Evanston has a commitment of 8,600 tons of salt, which is 3,000 tons more than used in a typical Evanston winter, yet it is nearly 2,000 tons less than what was used for last year’s unusually heavy snow season. Snow parking regulations in effect Dec. 1 to March 31
